While giving up smoking keep your mouth and hands busy

Smoking cigarettes kept your mouth and hands busy for a lot of time. Since you have stopped smoking, you should find some activities for your mouth and hands to keep them busy for the first 6 month.

What can keep your mouth busy:
- eating food that take a long time to chew: apples, carrots, etc.
- drinking water or another low calorie beverage
- chewing gum
- whitening your teeth
- gargling with mouthwash
- brushing
- flossing
- singing
- whistling
- experimenting with different styles of lipstick or lip gloss, or anything else that will keep your mouth busy.
DO NOT use chewing tobacco. It is just another form of nicotine addiction.

What can keep your hands busy:
- holding a pen or pencil
- drawing or painting
- writing letters or notes
- trimming your finger nails
- washing your hands or face
- squeezing a wrist exerciser or stress ball
- learning sign language
- sewing or knitting
- working on a puzzle
- playing a piano or other musical instrument
- playing with a yo-yo
- playing cards
- putting on hand weights
- doing push-ups or pull-ups
- carrying a cane, or engaging in anything else that will keep your hands busy.
