Keep in mind the reasons to quit smoking
It can be helpful to write down and repeat some of "why I am quitting statements" about your goal to stop smoking. These statements are your reminders of what you want to avoid, change, and move away from by quitting smoking. Repeat them as often as you need to stay motivated and focused.
Write down at least 10 reasons why you want to quit smoking. Start each sentence with "I am quitting smoking because I want _____." Here are some examples of "reasons to quit" statements:
I am quitting smoking because I want healthier lungs.
I am quitting smoking because I want to save money.
I am quitting smoking because I want my family and friends to respect me.
I am quitting smoking because I want to smell better.
I am quitting smoking because I want to taste my food again.
I am quitting smoking because I want to live longer.
I am quitting smoking because I want to be healthier.
I am quitting smoking because I want to be happier.
I am quitting smoking because I want to feel good about myself.
I am quitting smoking because I want to conquer my addiction and bad habit.
